We Can Do Better
In
the report, We Can Do Better, Toward an Alberta Child Poverty Reduction
Strategy for Children and Families (November
2008) principal author John Kolkman, Research and
Policy Analyist Coordinator for the Edmonton Social
Planning Council, states that 77 595
children now live in poverty in this
province. Further, Mr Kolkman found that 24 695 children living in poverty have
one or both parents working full-time, full year and that low income children
in Alberta live in deeper poverty than children in other provinces. Mr. Kolkman notes, “Albertans
strongly favour reducing poverty.”
