Full-Time Ordained Ministry Position

 

Kirk United Church is located in the community of Dovercourt in Edmonton AB. It is an established and stable, mainly residential, area with a minor mix of small commercial enterprises.  Kirk has been known as “The Friendly Kirk” for many years - in 2006 Kirk celebrated its 50th anniversary.  It should be noted that a significant number of their congregants are drawn from outside the districts immediately surrounding the church.

Our mission is to provide the opportunity for spiritual growth for all whom seek God’s love, wisdom and guidance. We nurture faith and fellowship, and provide resources to meet the challenges of today, and those of the future, by sharing God’s word through worship, music, prayer, study, and service.

 

Kirk is seeking the service of a full-time Ordained Minister.  The successful candidate, as well as providing leadership, will have responsibility in the following three areas:

 

•  Worship planning in conjunction with Worship Committee and Music Director - 25-40% of time.  Responsibilities: preaching; liturgy design; bulletin and announcement oversight; collaborative worship music selection.

 

•  Programming and Administration - 25-35% of time.  Responsibilities: develop and maintain healthy staff team; oversee rental arrangements; liaison with wider church; facilitate education and fellowship opportunities; outreach; committee operations; leadership with Board.

 

•  Pastoral Care - 20-40% of time.  Responsibilities: provision of pastoral care for many needs; monthly service at seniors residence; meetings with volunteer network; availability for pastoral consultations; supportive presence with social groups and celebrations.

 

The successful candidate will participate in meetings of: the Board; the staff; Westmount Christian Council; Pastoral Care; and Presbytery.
