United Church Men - Plan Ahead for the 2008 Banff Man’s Conference

The 54th annual Banff Men’s Conference (BMC) will be held Friday Oct.17 to Sunday Oct.19, 2008 at the Banff Centre. This is the annual gathering of United Church Men.

Our theme this year is “Two Faiths – One God” and it is designed to learn more about Islam and Muslims, particularly as they relate to Christianity and Christians. We have an outstanding theme speaker, Dr. Amir Hussain, Associate Professor of Theology at Loyola Marymount University, a Jesuit university, in Los Angles. Dr. Hussain is a Canadian, grew up in Toronto and earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Toronto.

In an article in the July/August 2007 issue of the Observer he stated, “Though I am a devout Muslim, I feel at home in the United Church”. Come and hear this outstanding individual, who is an adherent of the United Church of Canada, and teaches courses at Naramata and Five Oaks Centres.

Music, a vital component of every BMC, will be lead by our Richard & Donna Betts and Peter & Marie Lewin from St. Andrew’s UC, Calgary. Come and be a part of 250+ men singing some new music and some old favourites as well!

A variety of stimulating workshops round out the program. Register now at www.banffmen.org – the fee is $95.00. Follow the link to Banff Centre for accommodation – the cost, including all meals and taxes, is $132.12 per night, double occupancy; $193.22 per night single occupancy. A real bargain for an exceptional experience!
